Sherry Lynn (Sanford) Dees was born on January 1, 1947 to Ralph and Mildred Sanford in Oildale, California and passed away on June 8, 2008 in Fresno, California. Sherry grew up in Bakersfield and graduated from Bakersfield High School in 1964. She also attended Bakersfield College for two years.

On November 9, 1974 Sherry married Charles Frank Dees making their first home in Albuquerque, NM. Several years after moving to Rupert, Idaho, Chuck and Sherry solemnized their marriage in the Salt Lake Temple on June 12, 1980. As a member of the L.D.S church she was a member of the Riverside Ward, formally of Fig Garden, Kerman, and Madera Wards. She was a seminary teacher, librarian and in the young women's program.

Sherry was a great and loving mother who taught and disciplined her children well. Strangers often commented to her about how well her children behaved in restaurants and other public places. Birthdays and Christmas were very special times for her children and she always made every effort to make each a memorable occasion even the last one in February as Jason turned 30.

Her home, children, and the Boy Scouts were just a few of her passions. She was active with various troops and dens in Fresno, attended Boy Scout and Cub Scout Wood Badge Courses and was awarded the Silver Beaver Award from the Sequoia Council. She truly loved the scouting program and all the wonderful people who volunteer to help young men develop positive character traits in their lives. Sports activities of her children were always attended by Mom.

Sherry is survived by her husband, Chuck Dees, her four children Kevin, Jason (Heidi), Rebecca, & Brian all of Fresno, her two grandchildren, Taylor and Nicholas, her Mother, Mildred Sanford, her brother, Vernon Sanford of Bakersfield, and a special mother in law, Ethel Dees of Porterville.

Funeral services will be held on Friday, June 13, 2008, 10:00 am, at the Fresno West Stake Building at the intersection of Sierra and Valentine. The viewing will be from 8:00 to 9:45 followed by services at 10:00 AM. Burial will be at the Fresno Memorial Gardens.
